What do I have to do for Pre Admission?
Admission times to Dormir Group Surgical Centre will vary as arranged by your doctor at the time of booking your stay with us.
To avoid admission delays, we request that you start the admission process as soon as possible. Please register or sign in here.
How does the discharge process work?
When you are ready for discharge, the nurse will discuss any care instructions that you need to follow. Please follow all the instructions from your surgeon, including any post-operative medication requirements and dressing instructions.
Following discharge, you are allowed to eat and drink as instructed by your surgeon. If required, an appointment time will be provided for a post-operative review at your surgeon’s rooms.
Patients who have been sedated are not allowed to travel home by themselves. Once you are fully recovered, you will be handed over into the care of the person taking you home. You may feel slightly drowsy for 24 hours after your surgery. During this time, you are not allowed to drive, operate machinery, consume alcohol, or sign any legal documents. If you have young children, please arrange for someone else to look after them.
Where can I park?
On-site undercover parking first 2 hours free, then hourly rates apply. Please allow extra time during busy periods. Public Transport: Easily accessible by bus with stops nearby on Gympie Road and Rode Road. Major routes include 333, 340, 332, 338, 334, 354 and 322.

What types of skin cancer procedures require anaesthesia?
Some skin cancer treatments, particularly larger excisions, flap repairs, grafts, or multiple lesion removals, may benefit from IV sedation or general anaesthesia. This allows complex procedures to be performed safely and comfortably, especially when treatment areas are extensive or in sensitive locations.
Is anaesthesia necessary for all skin cancer removals?
No. Many small lesions can be removed under local anaesthetic in a clinic setting. However, when procedures are more complex, involve larger areas, or when patients feel anxious, anaesthesia options such as IV sedation or general anaesthetic may be recommended for improved comfort and precision.
Who administers the anaesthesia during my procedure?
Anaesthesia is delivered by qualified specialist anaesthetists in a fully equipped medical facility. Throughout your procedure, your vital signs are continuously monitored to ensure your safety and comfort at all times.
How do I know if I am suitable for anaesthesia?
Before your procedure, you will undergo a pre-operative assessment. This includes reviewing your medical history, medications, allergies, and overall health to determine the safest anaesthetic option for you.
What is the recovery process like after skin cancer surgery under anaesthesia?
Recovery varies depending on the procedure performed. Most patients spend a short time in recovery where trained nursing staff monitor them until they are ready for discharge. You will receive clear post-operative instructions regarding wound care, pain management, and follow-up appointments.
